Dogdays, a four-piece rock band, recently came onto my radar—and I was genuinely impressed by what I heard.
The band, made up of Kayleigh, Molly, Finn, and Phoebe, are clearly more than just bandmates; they’re close friends, and that connection shines through in their music. Their sound is driven by tight melodies and dynamic instrumental riffs that bounce effortlessly off one another, creating a sense of cohesion that feels both natural and electric.
Despite only emerging in 2025, Dogdays have quickly found their footing in the local music scene. Through consistent performances and a clear dedication to their craft, they’ve built strong momentum in a short space of time.
Some standout moments so far include a support slot for Bear Park at Northumbria University, as well as another performance at The Cluny during Independent Venue Week—both significant milestones for such a new band.
As one reviewer, Victoria Wai, noted, “For a relatively new band they oozed confidence and looked like they had been doing this for some time.” That confidence is hard to ignore and even harder not to admire.
Their sound has also drawn comparisons to iconic 1990s influences. Music outlet Dogeared Dawn described their style as featuring “chord sequences influenced by 1990s icons like The Cranberries and The Smashing Pumpkins.” It’s a fitting comparison, but Dogdays still manage to carve out something that feels distinctly their own.
There’s a real sense of anticipation surrounding what they’ll do next—and if their current trajectory is anything to go by, they’re only just getting started.
All I can say is: the Dogdays are far from over.
